Martin Cota Scholarships Available

Hi Gang,

The season, as we used to refer to it, ended last weekend with some terrific officiating at the ASAA Provincials, CCAA & CIS Nationals. Also, the ACAC Final 8s earlier in March were great experiences & development opportunities for a lot of members. Well done for all those fortunate to be involved!

Moving into the 'next season' I encourage you to take some time off, re-charge & refresh before working Spring & Summer ball. I know many of you are signed up for summer camps already, including Karen Lasuik 's Next Level Camp. Not sure if all spots are filled but I believe it's getting close to full. Go to ABOA's website here for more details: http://www.refalberta.ca/camps/camps.html

You may recall that at the ABOA Provincial Clinic, presenter Martin Cota generously offered several scholarships to his camps this summer. The series of camps are under the label, BeALead.net and the details are here:
http://www.bealead.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17& Itemid =15

In each case, in order to qualify you must apply to ABOA and you are responsible for your own travel expenses.

Martin has agreed to offer three (3) full scholarships to the BAL mens & womens at UC Irvine. This camp is targeted at officials moving up and wishing to refine their 3-person skills.

He is offering one (1) full scholarship to BAL 2 at Azusa Pacific. This camp will challenge you by officiating some of the best junior college players in Southern California.

Also, he is offering one (1) full scholarship to TNL Las Vegas for officials ready to take on the ultimate in college officiating camps featuring some of the best athletes in the country.

Applications in writing should be emailed to ABOA c/o JakeSteinbrenner@shaw.ca and the absolute deadline is by Monday, April 8 (tee-off for The Masters).

1. Preference will be given to those who attended the ABOA Provincial Clinic last September.
2. You may apply for any two of the three Camp locations in succession & in order of preference.
3. A brief resume is required stating your officiating goals, current level of officiating both NOCP & level of play, body of work & recent accomplishments. Also, a statement indicating why ABOA should select you above any other applicants.
4. Applicants selected will be notified by April 11th .
5. Any applicant who is selected and cancels without acceptable reason will be charged the full cost of the camp.

Once again, travel expenses are not covered & are the official's responsibility.

If you have any questions, please discuss with your local board.

FYI, if you have not already applied for Summer Nationals, the deadline is April 15th . Those who applied earlier need not apply again.

All the best,

Jake
