Pink Whistle Campaign
22, January, 2011 02:47 PM
ABOA Vice President Brian Kannekens today released the following information on the ABOA's Pink Whistle Campaign in support of Cancer Research:
Last year in conjunction with EBOA, we had a very successful fundraising event, and we hope to again this year. While EBOA is still working as the coordinators, this year the ABOA has created a fundraising link that you will receive to direct other friends and family to donate to our cause. The opportunity to donate through your local board is still available, and might be the easiest way for officials to donate, but we felt that having the website available for others to donate might help increase the awareness of what we are doing, and bring more people alongside us in this fundraiser. If you would rather donate on line, that is what the site is for. You will receive an e-receipt immediately for donations over $20. Also, by donating on line, you save the Cancer Society $2.00 per transaction in reduced processing fees. Whatever method works best for your members, but please forward the link to your members and friends and encourage them to support the ABOA in this endeavor.
To show their support both on and off the court, ABOA officials will be wearing Pink Fox 40 Whistles for various games throughout the month of February. This includes CIS, ACAC and ASAA High School Games. You can show your support for local officials by making a donation online to help us "Call a Foul on Cancer." Our officials will be wearing their Pink Whistles and Lanyards the weekend of February 4th at all University and College games, and continuing to use them in all leagues that we officiate starting on Monday February 7th until Saturday, February 13th.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies. You can make a donation online by clicking on this link.
Any questions regarding the pink whistles and lanyards, or where to send your boards donations can be directed to Cam Magnon of EBOA, who is CC’d on this email. The site is more for individuals who want to make a donation on their own.
Again, please forward the link you receive to your members as well, so they can distribute to their friends. This is a province wide effort, so anywhere my name appears is only for the setting up of the site. Anyone who might inadvertently give to me directly, still gets receipted, and the $$ goes to our fundraiser specifically.
Thanks for your help in making this successful.
