EBOA vs. Cancer: “Basketball Referees Fight Back”!
20/January/2010
This year, the EBOA is joining the fight against Cancer. To show our support both on and off the Court, all EBOA Officials and other basketball officiating boards throughout the Province of Alberta, will be donning Fox40 Pink Whistles for all games during the week of February 1-7, 2010.
This initiative, through the purchase of Pink Whistles, has raised just over $3,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
To further spread the word of this Fundraiser, we encourage all EBOA Members to pass along the attached Media Release to your Friends and Family asking them to join the Fight.
The Canadian Cancer Society has provided the EBOA with a convenient Team Page web-link to make it easy for anyone to contribute to the Fight, no matter how big or small the contribution may be.
The web-link is: http://convio.cancer.ca/goto/EBOAvsCANCER
EBOA Executive Board
Stephane Labonne Karen Lasuik
Leo Mangano Susan Yackabowski
John Byrne Gil Desmarais
Gary Nahornick Franco Panizzon
Kent Heine Ed Harasem
With the initiative of the Edmonton Basketball Officials Association (EBOA) and the support of the Alberta Basketball Officials Association (ABOA), this campaign will champion the efforts of over 415 basketball referees in high school & post-secondary gyms throughout Alberta the first week of February. Additionally, the Bears & Pandas games Jan 29 & 30 will also be venues to support and create awareness for Reach For A Cure. All in all this will reach a lot of gyms in cities & towns from Medicine Hat to La Crete & Ft. McMurray and many places in between.
You may also join the effort to match the $3000 raised by donating through the web-link below but that is not the primary purpose here. Many of you already give so this is just to generate further awareness.
